"You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else." - Albert Einstein
Currently living in sunny Queensland after spending the majority of my life living and working in Sydney, I have a history saying "What the hell", and tackling jobs that I don't necessarily have the experience or qualifications for. I am ridiculously impatient, ambitious and have an (I'm told) annoying tendency to constantly want MORE out of life and not accept the status quo. I live by the saying "If you bite off more than you can chew, then chew like hell".
I'm a lover of technology, addicted to gadgets, and am passionate about using social media to get ahead in your career. I love the challenge of juggling family (3 beautiful kidlets) and my passion (I can't call it work because I love what I do). I've read thousands of forgettable resumes, and a few good ones. I’ve worked with a lot of blue-chip companies including Coca-Cola Amatil, Nestle, American Express, Virgin, and Westpac, and have also recruited in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Perth.
I've spent my working career to date as a recruitment consultant, and am one of the minority in the industry who can claim this career by choice. I LOVE working with people looking for jobs, identifying hidden talent, and asking tricky interview questions. I LOVE the warm fuzzy feeling you get when you know you have helped the absolute perfect person get their dream job, and in the process had a hand in their career. I believe people often aim too low, underestimate themselves, and undersell what they are capable of.
Like a lot of things in life, job hunting can be a game rife with politics that few know the rules to and where the best candidate often doesn't win. After years spent screening, interviewing and rejecting candidates, I have seen too many make simple mistakes that get them rejected. I've worked closely with hiring managers on interview tips and tricks, and I know what works and what doesn’t. I want to give you the competitive edge by helping YOU navigate the politics, unwritten and unspoken rules of job hunting.
I'm passionate about empowering people to go for the job they dream of, the one they don't think they can get. I established Career Savvy to provide practical, useful job hunting tools for job seekers. With the right tools, you can be empowered to aim higher, drive your career further and earn more money!
